Will this software run on my PC or Mac? Six things to check

Two products with the same name may have different requirements depending on their edition or release year. Before ordering, compare your computer with the requirements for the exact product. Missing information on a product page should not be treated as a compatibility guarantee.

1. Operating system and version

In Windows settings, open System and then About. Note the Windows edition and version. Microsoft explains where to find these details in its device information guide. “Windows” without a version number is not enough to make a reliable decision.

2. Processor and architecture

Check the processor type, especially for an ARM-based PC. On a Mac, the Apple menu and About This Mac identify Apple silicon or an Intel processor. Apple’s documentation explains the distinction. Then check what the software publisher officially supports rather than assuming emulation covers every situation.

3. Memory and free storage

Compare installed RAM and available storage with the publisher’s requirements. You may also need space for temporary installation files, your projects and updates. For regular intensive use, consider the recommended specification as well as the minimum.

4. Edition and required features

List two or three essential tasks: editing a scanned PDF, working with video, protecting several devices or working offline. Check that the selected edition supports them. A feature advertised for the brand is not necessarily included in every plan.

5. Accounts, connectivity and installation permissions

Some applications need a publisher account or an internet connection for activation. A company-managed computer may restrict installations. If you use a work or school device, ask its administrator to confirm the installation before purchasing.

6. Older releases and publisher support

A licence for an older release does not automatically include the newest edition. Separate the right to use the product, compatibility with your current system and the publisher’s support period. For example, Microsoft now states that Office 2016 and 2019 support has ended in its installation documentation. Do not assume the same status for every older application.

Keep a short note of your operating system, processor, memory and requirements. This makes it easier to compare the software available from PrixSoft or ask a precise question before choosing an edition.
